Lock Lane 0

Crigglestone All Blacks 22

Lock lane opened the new summer season with a poor display against spirited opponents.

Crigglestone adapted better to the awful conditions and it was no surprise when they opened the scoring after 10 minutes.
Lane tried to get back into the game but dropped passes and unforced errors kept them under the cosh. Lane then started to lose players to injuries with Ryan Kear, Sam Angel and Arran Blears all leaving the game not to return. Nathan Breslin, Morgan Lewis and Sam Wilkinson Pycock all took the ball forward well and Leon Ashworth was lanes man of the match with his outstanding defence and attack. Mitchell Platte, Joe Willock, Reagan Clarke, Daniel Jarratt and Ryan Whitworth never gave in throughout but Crigglestone dominated due to their larger forwards and ran in another two tries before half time. Lloyd Walker, Chris Baker, Lewis Rooke, Jack Middleton and the returning Tom Noble were unable to stop a further two tries in the second half. Reece Rennison and Brendan Speight played well on their debuts. Breslin was most improved player with Wilkinson Pycock top tackler. Lane can only improve in next week’s game.
