2nd Row - No.11 Result - Wetherby Bulldogs 28 Crigglestone All Blacks 18 Web Report... A lovely morning in Crigglestone saw the depleted Bulldogs take the field with 12 men to try and kick start their season. After an even opening to the game, Crigglestone exposed some holes in the vistors defence to open a 12-0 lead. The Bulldogs then clicked into gear, led forward by a rampaging run from Wes Charles, who after been stopped a couple of yards short of the line, neatly off loaded to the supporting Bill Cale, meaning they went into the half time break 12-4 behind. Crig started the second half strongly and scored a converted try to extend their lead, but after some stirring words from coaches Shires and Fall, the Bulldogs began to raise their game. First, Kane Wilson showed strength and determination to force his way over, Ben Fall converting, quickly followed over by the powerhouse Wes Charles, again Fall converting. With the game in the balance, Kane produced the try of the game, breaking free inside his own 20 yard area, to run the length of the field to score under the posts, Fall adding the extras. Sensing victory, and backed up by some strong defence and forceful running from James Troughton, Jimmy Bent, Elliot Lewis and Billt Cale, the Bulldogs gained good field position, allowing Tom Belt to throw an outrageous dummy from acting half and dive over to score, quickly being mobbed by his team mates, Fall converting. The final whistle sounded to much jubilation on the pitch and on the sideline, a fitting reward for a great team effort. |
