Lock lane under 13s turned in a much improved display against their local rivals in the semi-final of the vanguard cup.
Defences dominated the opening encounters, top tackler Leon Ashworth, Ryan Kear, Joe Willock and Sam Wilkinson Pycock to the fore. Lane then made a break through Rory Dixon who was just held short, allowing Bailey Hammond to dive over. Lions then responded with a converted try to take the lead only for great runs from Alex Dean and Ryan Kear setting the position for Harvey Kear to force his way over, Willock converting. From the kick off Brad Gill, Zach Wilson, Arran Blears and Chris Baker made good yards which led to Brad Gott crashing over and Willock converting. Half time score 16 -6.
The second half saw lane extend their lead with man of the match Reagan Clarke, Brandon Winks and most improved player Jack Middleton combining to send Dixon over for a try, Willock converting. Dixon scored his second try to seal the win before Lions scored a consolation try at the end. New signings Kain Wilson and Tom Noble showed good touches in a pleasing committed encounter.
