2nd Row - No.12 Result - LL 24 v NE 20 Web Report... Lock Lane U14s gained their first win of the new season with a strong second half display against committed opponents. Lane’s opponents scored from their first six tackles but lane responded with a fine break from Kane Wilson setting up position for Joe Willock to provide Arran Blears with a 20 yard dash to the corner. From the kick off Leon Ashworth showed a clean pair of heels as he outpaced the entire New Earswick team for a 90 yarder that Willock converted. New Earswick came back strong and only solid defence from Nathan Breslin, Zach Wilson, Daniel Jarratt and Sam Wilkinson Pycock keeping them out. As the half came to a close lane allowed the ball to bounce and new Earswick re-gathered and scored a converted try, half time 12-10. Lane began the second half with a blitz of their opponent’s line. First Willock jinked through after Ryan Whitworth, Morgan Lewis, Reagan Clarke and Chris Baker all showed neat touches. Kane Wilson then scythed through from half way for a try converted by Willock. Ashworth then scored his second try of the game after Mitchell Platt, Ryan Kear and Lloyd Walker combined. With 10 minutes to go lane switched off and instead of pushing forward to seal the game they stood back and new Earswick took full advantage scoring a try out wide. Lane made mistakes and gave away silly penalties so were always going backwards. Sam Angell and Jack Middleton both doing exceptionally well in defence. New Earswick scored another unconverted try with time running out but lane hung on with some excellent defence to win it. Man of the match went to Kane Wilson on debut, most improved was Clarke, top tackler was shared between Middleton and Angell.
